QR-kun: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Updated this week

💡 Here are some of the most common questions we receive about QR-kun!

Q: What does "QR" stand for?

A: QR stands for "Quick Response." It was named by DENSO WAVE because it was developed specifically for high-speed data reading.

Q: Is QR-kun free to use?

A: Yes, it is completely free to use.

Q: Do I need to register an account to create a QR code?

A: If you want to create a QR code immediately, you can do so without registration. However, an account (login) is required to manage, edit, or use the analytics features for your created codes.

Q: Do the QR codes expire?

A: You can create QR codes instantly without an account. However, if you wish to use them permanently, we recommend registering an account. QR codes created without registration will be deactivated after a certain period, but you can reactivate them by logging in.

Q: Can I customize the design of my QR code?

A: Yes! You can easily create branded QR codes by embedding logos or images, choosing from a wide color palette, and selecting various frame designs.

Q: Can I change the destination link of a QR code after it’s been created?

A: Yes, you can edit the destination URL as many times as you like. This allows for flexible operation even after the code has been printed.

Q: What types of QR codes can I create?

A: You can create various types of QR codes to suit your needs, including Website URLs, PDFs, Images, Videos, vCards (digital business cards), Wi-Fi settings, SMS, and more.

Q: Can I analyze the usage of my QR codes?

A: Yes, you can check detailed real-time analytics, including the number of scans, time of day, and geographical location.

Q: What is a "Classic QR Code"?

A: A Classic QR Code is a traditional format where the content is embedded directly into the code. Because of this, Classic QR Codes cannot be edited or analyzed. Note that certain types (vCard, Wi-Fi, SMS, Email, Phone numbers) are only available as Classic QR Codes.

Q: What are "Labels"?

A: Labels are a feature that allows you to easily categorize and manage your QR codes. You can assign multiple labels to a single code, allowing you to filter and display only the codes associated with a specific label.

Q: What does "Active" and "Inactive" mean for a QR code?

A: When a QR code is "Active," scanning it takes the user to the content. If it is "Inactive," the content will not be displayed even if the code is scanned. This is useful for temporarily disabling a QR code.

Q: What is the difference between "Dynamic QR Codes" and QR-kun’s QR codes?

A: With a few exceptions, all QR codes created on QR-kun are Dynamic QR Codes (those that aren't are "Classic QR Codes"). Dynamic QR Codes (also known as "Variable QR Codes") allow you to edit the content after creation and provide detailed scan analytics.
